Sheridan County Republican committeemen and committeewomen who reside in District 30 held a selection committee meeting Monday to choose no more than three applicants to fill the vacancy left by State Representative Jon Botten's recent resignation. Since there were only two applicants, Sheridan County Republican Chairman Jesus Rios says that both were selected for consideration.

The deadline to submit the nominees is October 2nd, from which the Commissioners will have five days to appoint one of the candidates.

Whomever is appointed will only fill the position through the end of Botten's term, which expires at the end of the year. Republican candidate Kathy Coleman ran unopposed in the Primary Election for the District 30 seat. Since Coleman will also run unopposed in the General Election, she will serve as House District 30 Representative once the new year begins.
