The Johnson County Healthcare Center Board of Trustees heard a brief financial report from administrator Sandy Ward at their monthly meeting last week.
Ward said for the first couple of months in the fiscal year, the facility is running a little behind his forecasted budget.
The budget had shown an operating loss of $2.1 million, but later as they did the forecast it dropped down to a $1.5 operating loss, due to the facility receiving nearly $500,000 in non-operating or “other” revenue.
Volume in January was higher than expected with projected gross receipts of $1.7 to $1.8 million, coupled with a Medicare cost reports settlement payment, so revenue is good through the beginning of the year.
Ward told the board unless volume picks up over projection, he is still expecting a $1.5 million operating loss for the year, which ends in June.
