The Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees got the latest information on the 2018 Building Project at a recent meeting, that the project is a few weeks behind schedule.
Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward reported that the contractor has had the same problem many local employers are having, not being able to find enough qualified workers to fill positions and are subsequently falling behind schedule.
He reported that the contractor has brought in more crews from elsewhere to help on the project.
The 2018 building project will give the facility a new nursing home to replace the aging Amie Holt Care Center. The new facility is being constructed west of the Main Entrance parking area between the school district administration building and the golf course.
The contractor and the hospital are still hoping to have the building enclosed before the snow flies this winter.
Administration and the contractor will know more on where the project stands in September.
