The annual Battle on the Blacktop three-on-three basketball tournament will be in Buffalo this weekend, bringing in an estimated 2,500 people to participate and cheer each other on.
This is the second year the Johnson County Family YMCA has been in charge of the tournament, and YMCA Director Mike Qwast said it is a big event for Buffalo.
The tournament will give an opportunity for teams ranging in age from 8 and 9 years old up to “seasoned” players age 30 and up to play other teams for bragging rights and fun.
Games begin Saturday morning at 8am sharp in the area between the Johnson County Courthouse and the old Clear Creek School, and will continue all day and finally finish up with games Sunday culminating in the crowning of champions in each of the seven brackets.
Qwast said the economic impacts to Buffalo are huge.
The public is invited, and all games are free to attend. Qwast said basketball fans can enjoy a snack or a beverage and watch the action all weekend long.
