Wyoming Game and Fish biologists have confirmed that epizootic hemorrhagic disease, or EHD, has killed a number of white-tailed deer and some pronghorn in the Big Horn Basin, Sheridan and Casper areas this year.
Sheridan Wildlife Management Coordinator Lynn Jahnke explains exactly what the disease is.
The last time there was an outbreak of the disease in the Sheridan area was in 2006. Jahnke says that this year's weather climate played a large role in why the disease popped up in the area again.
Jahnke said that hunters do not have to worry about contracting the disease by eating the deer meat, as humans and most other wildlife can't get the disease.
