Today we continue our series on the health care industry with a look at a program that was conceived from the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has the story.
Recovery Audit Contractors were hired to help prevent fraud and abuse with Medicare and Medicaid. Sheridan Memorial Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty explains how this is being conducted.
So if the program was developed to help prevent fraud, why are so many in the health care industry opposed to the RAC audits?
McCafferty stated that that's going to be very detrimental to the future of our health care system, when the ability to practice medicine by physicians is handed down by bureaucrats. Join us Thursday, when we'll wrap up our series on health care with some insight to how the new health care law will affect the City of Sheridan's health insurance for their employees.
