Has This Summer Been Hotter Than Last?

This latest heatwave in the Sheridan region may be one of the last of the summer as fall isn't too far off on the calender. Meteorologist Joe Lester with the National Weather Service in Billings says that this summer has actually been a little bit warmer than the last when it comes to the average temperature.

Lester said that the number of days that we've reached 100 degrees has went down significantly over the last several years, as this summer and last we reached the 100 degree mark only once per season. There were no 100 degree days in Sheridan during the summer of 2009. Lester said that in comparison, there were ten 100 degree days in Sheridan during the summer of 2003, and that since 2006, the summers have gotten consistently cooler.
