The Hand-in-Hand Early Childhood Education Center has been open for nearly a month and things are progressing slowly. The Sheridan Quality Child Care Initiative board runs the center and they had a goal of 51 full-time-equivalent students by the opening date of September 9th. The current enrollment is 35 FTE’s. That serves nearly 75 individual students according to center Director Susan Brayton.
The staff also includes student interns already using the post secondary educational program. There are two interns from the University of Wyoming and one from Casper College, as well.
The infant section of the facility is already near capacity and they won’t be able to accept more infants until they see if they indeed fill all three classrooms by the first of the year with those already enrolled.
The Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority owns the Hand in Hand building and they’re planning a grand opening at the Center on October 22nd.
