While most schools have started for the year by now, the Hand In Hand Early Childhood Education Center has one more week before students arrive. The facility should be complete and the staff will use this week to prepare the rooms for their first classes. Hand In Hand Executive Director Susan Brayton says they still have openings for more students.
Operating costs for the center will come from student tuitions and they will also get funding through Sheridan College as part of the early childhood teacher education program.
They have lowered tuition from the expected $45 per day down to $36 for all day crawlers and infants. Brayton hopes to have 50 children committed to attending the center by next week. The facility can handle over 100 kids from birth to age 5, but they will need to increase staffing to serve that many children.
