Habitat for Humanity Seeks Applicants

Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns recognizes the housing market in the Sheridan area isn't always attainable for those living on a fixed income. However, the organization is looking to empower working families by facilitating their success into home ownership. Executive Director, Matt Davis, said this could be the ticket to financial freedom for some families.

In order to enter a partnership with Habitat, applicants are required to put in an established number of “sweat equity” work hours building their homes and come up with a down payment. At the end of it all, participants end up with an interest-free mortgage that's well below the standard market price.

Davis admits the application process is rigorous.

Habitat for Humanity is hosting an informational meeting for potential applicants Thursday night at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library at 5:30. Interested parties are welcome to bring relevant financial records for consideration of a mortgage.
