The Guardians of the Range will be holding its annual fundraiser and conducting a historic ranch tour on June 1. Sheridan Media's Chris Foy has the story.
The Guardians of the Range is a Wyoming-based non-profit public lands grazing organization founded in 2003. Local chair for the Guardians here in Sheridan, Dana Kerns, explains.
The organization works in partnership with federal agencies from the Bureau of Land Management to the Shoshone National Forest in addition to public land stewards because Kerns says communication between all involved with the land helps to more responsibly balance interests.
On June 1, the Guardians will be holding their third annual fundraiser dinner at the oldest guest ranch in all of North America - Eaton's Ranch. But a historic ranch tour will kick off the event at the Double Rafter Ranch, which was homesteaded in 1887 by members of Kerns' family, ending at Eaton's in Wolf.
Kerns says it's roughly a 35 minute drive from Sheridan to the Double Rafter Ranch. For more information on the fundraiser or the Guardians themselves, visit guardiansoftherange.com.
