CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming is sending a National Guard helicopter and its four-person crew to Colorado to help fight the deadly Black Forest fire near Colorado Springs. Gov. Matt Mead announced that the Black Hawk helicopter and four-person crew left for Colorado Friday afternoon. Mead says he offered Wyoming's assistance to Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper on Friday morning.
The helicopter will drop water on the Black Forest fire. Officials say the fire has scorched about 25 square miles and has burned nearly 400 homes and killed two people. Wyoming recently sent a strike team of firefighters to New Mexico, which is also experiencing large wildfires.
