Governor Matt Mead and his staff have just begun work on a state energy policy, with the hopes of having a document in place by early 2012.
Mead says that the state can take a leadership role in adopting an energy policy.
Governor Mead says the plan would lay out what resources are in Wyoming, what infrastructure is in place, what the state anticipates as future needs and what areas have special values.
He also says that a federal energy policy is needed and this is an opportunity to lead by example.
