Gillette Woman Vies for Crown

A young woman from Gillette will be one of the seven contestants this year vying for the Miss Wyoming crown this weekend at the WYO Theater in Sheridan.

Her name is Jessica Dyk who was crowned Miss Gillette. The pageant will be Saturday night at 7:30, and start after the 7 o'clock pre-show which features the crowning of the 2014 Little Sisters. Tickets are $20, or $25 for premier seating, and $15 for students and seniors.

As fitting with this year's pageant theme, “Rockin' the Runway,” the event will feature music from the 1980s groups like Poison, Journey and ZZ Top and the music of Madonna, Pat Benatar and Cyndi Lauper.

The mistress of ceremonies will be Jenn McCafferty-Webb who was the Miss Wyoming of 2007, and current queen Rebecca Podio of Newcastle will be on hand to crown the winner. They'll be joined by Miss Wyoming 2004 Meagan Reichert-Anderson, along with some of Sheridan's local entertainers.

The names of the six others vying for the crown are: Julia Kendrix, Miss Energy City; Jessie Allen, Miss Fremont County; Kendra Christiansen, Miss Sweetwater County; Jordyn Hall, Miss Carbon County; Caitlin Bush, Miss Albany County; and Samantha Green, Miss Cheyenne.
