On Saturday, June 22, the Wyoming Wilderness Association will be hosting a free educational hike in the Rock Creek Recommended Wilderness Area to see first-hand the effects of last year's Gilead Fire.
Marielle DeJong, who's interning with the WWA this summer, explains.
She says participants can expect to see patches of land that were burnt in the fire, but also the regenerative effects fire has on the forest, including the many native wildflowers that spring up following a burn.
The hike will be the seventh free outing put on by the association this summer and it will begin at 8 a.m. on June 22. For more information visit www.wildwyo.org. Or to sign up for the outing, call 672-2751 or email DeJong at email@example.com. For a list of additional outings this summer, click on the attachment below.
