The Gilead Fire grew from 8,068 acres Friday to 8,134 acres Saturday, but containment also increased from 47% to 56%, according to the latest information released on InciWeb.
Crews on Saturday completed handline from the southwestern flank to Middle Rock Creek and began securing this portion of line. They also conducted burn out operations to secure line along southern and eastern flanks of the fire.
Crews are expected to continue burnout operations to secure line along the incomplete portion of the southern flank and continue direct handline construction from the southwestern point of the fire, north up the western flank into the middle of Rock Creek drainage.
Currently there are 120 total personnel on scene.
Costs to date sit at $3 million.
