Monsters March In Buffalo

Hundreds, maybe even a thousand, of scarey prowlers roamed the downtown Main Street of Buffalo on Halloween, in search of – candy.

As the hoards came over the hill from the Gatchell Museum, the beasties below, meaning the dressed-up store keeps and chamber reps, manned their stations, and held tight to their bowls of candy.

Though the annual Monster Mash sounds scary, it was really more of a stroll, to show off how clever, silly or crazy you can be. There were the expected witches and ghosts and Dracula's, for sure. And fairies and princesses, and ninja turtles and Spidermen. But, added to the mix this year, in droves, were zombies. Oh, and Willie, Phil and Si, better known, maybe, as the Duck Dynasty boys.

For most of the people, though, who came out to watch, the annual march on Main has become a holiday favorite because of the costume parade. The list of prize winners will be posted just as soon as it comes in from the office of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce.
