Saturday morning the “Y” and Sheridan County's Wellness Council teamed up for a free, fun-filled morning focusing on healthy and safe kids.

“Healthy Kids Day” is a 'Y' initiative that all YMCA's across the country celebrated Saturday. Local coordinator Terra Donahue explains.

Our kids today are facing some health issues because of inactivity.

Four year-old Ariana Cruz was there with her Grandma Cruz. She had a pink dinosaur painted on her face plus a bag of goodies which she was showing me.

Grandma Cruz had this to say.

It must have been Grandma Day because Lorraine Kobielusz was there with her granddaughter Abbie. She tells us what Abbie learned.

There were more than 20 interactive booths which included car seat safety checks, a bicycle course, face painting, put-put golf, healthy snacks, and safe handwashing. The fire department as well as the forest service were there. A busy morning, but a very important morning. Terra Donahue says it best.
