With the recent cold weather, ice fishing opportunities in northeast Wyoming will be here soon. Game and Fish Information Specialist Warren Mischke explains one of the biggest changes this year that will affect Lake DeSmet and Healy Reservoir.
Mishcke adds that one very important thing anglers need to keep in mind when heading out for some ice fishing this winter is to make sure the ice is safe for fishing.
Mischke said that it is always a good idea to bring a friend along when ice fishing and that other safety precautions include wearing a life jacket and carrying a flotation device on a rope that can easily be thrown, as well as some sort of ice pick fastened to a rope and worn around the neck.
