JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department plans to begin trapping wolves for scientific purposes in the Gros Ventre Mountains next week. Game and Fish officials say the trapping is set to begin Tuesday and continue through June 15.
All major access points where wolves will be trapped will be marked with warning signs. Game and Fish says it's important that hikers don't venture into these areas. The trapped wolves will be immobilized, studied and released on site. Trapping is required to monitor the state's wolf population under the terms for removing the animals from endangered species protection.
