There are plenty of wild turkeys for hunting in the northeast Wyoming area this year, and the Sheridan Game and Fish Department reminds Sheridan County residents that turkey season is open until December 31.

Game and Fish Information Specialist Warren Mischke.

According to a release from the Game and Fish, turkey season in hunt areas 3, 5 and 7 for Sheridan, Johnson and Campbell counties is open from October 1 to December 31. Many areas within 3, 5, and 7 are found on private land, so hunters should be sure to get permission from landowners before hunting.

Mischke says the Game and Fish has dealt with one landowner who has had trouble with the birds damaging stored crops, and would like help some from hunters.

Mischke added that the turkey hunt is a good first-time hunter experience.
