Sheridan Memorial Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty presented the Board of Trustees with a proposal for a funding concept for expansion of the Welch Cancer Center. McCafferty explains the proposal that was approved by the Board.
McCafferty says that the expansion would include a tear down and rebuild.
McCafferty stated that the valuable space that they will retain is the vault for the linear accelerator, which is most commonly used for external beam radiation treatments for patients with cancer. The anticipated total project cost is between $6.5 to $7.8 million. McCafferty said that he hopes to have a guaranteed maximum price from the design team of KWN Construction and CTA Architects in the next few months.
