The Friends of the NRA (National Rifle Association) Banquet will be Saturday evening at the Johnson County Fairgrounds' Community Building in Buffalo.
Reeve Weber, organizer of the Johnson County event, tells us what the banquet is for.
Weber said communities can apply for grants from the NRA for the various projects. One of the best-known projects is the Eddie Eagle program, designed to teach firearms safety to children -- not handling them, but what to do and not do if they find a firearm.
The program teaches children if they see a firearm to stop, don't touch, leave the area and tell an adult.
In addition to the meal, Weber said there are a number of other happenings at the banquet.
Tickets are $30 per person and are available at the Sports Lure in Buffalo. The banquet begins Saturday evening at 5:30.
