The Friends of Sheridan County Public Library may have reached their goal of raising over $1 million with their auction earlier this month.
Auction organizers announced at the Nov. 9 event that in the past 30 years, the Friends had raised $960,000 to benefit the library. So the goal this year was to raise enough money to top the million-dollar mark.
Library Director Cameron Duff says the goal appears likely because the preliminary gross total raised from the event is $55,000. However, the director said final proceeds from the auction will probably not be available until January.
He said Wednesday that expenses are still coming in, but there are also some donations that have not yet been received.
