For the past five years, the Sheridan and Johnson County delegation to the Wyoming Legislature have sponsored students from Sheridan High School to come to Cheyenne as Legislative Interns for two weeks of the Session.

SHS Government instructor, Tyson Emborg, says that the students don't necessarily have to be in his government classes to participate.

Emborg adds that this program is really a “big deal.”

He says that there are many bills that pertain to youth and to students, dealing with issues such as the dropout rate, the Hathaway Scholarship, texting while driving, etc.

There is no cost to the students who participate, as funding comes from the Sheridan / Johnson County delegates.

The 2011 Legislative Interns are McKenzie Butcher, Dylan Dalton, Ryan Kirven and Karsyn Lamb.
