GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A former Campbell County high school principal and an aide have been charged with using a district credit card to buy more than $1,600 worth of electronics and weight equipment for personal use. Larry Dean Steiger and Trudy Kay Garcia were charged Friday with three felony counts each of knowingly submitting a false claim or voucher.
Steiger served as high school principal for six years before resigning in June. He is currently a guidance counselor at Sheridan High School. At Monday night's Sheridan County School District 2 Board meeting, Assistant Superintendent Terry Burgess made this statement regarding the issue.
Prosecutor Bill Edelman said he expected Steiger and Garcia to turn themselves in early next week.
