Now that it appears that summer has finally arrived, more and more people are making their way to the Bighorn Mountains to partake in various recreation activities.

Bighorn National Forest Safety Officer Jon Warder says that with the holiday weekend fast approaching, people need to be extra cautious due to the conditions.

Warder says that there are some guidelines that they ask people to follow when recreating on the mountain.

Warder said that since campground openings and closings have been changing rapidly, people should contact their nearest Forest Service office to check availability.

While the danger of wildfire is currently low, it should be noted that fireworks on the National Forest are prohibited year round regardless of the conditions.
