Schools in Sheridan County will again be offering free flu clinics to students, thanks to help from community partners and Sheridan County Community Health.
Sheridan High School Principal Dirlene Wheeler says it's important to get students vaccinated so they don't miss too much class.
This year's flu shot has the 2009 H1N1 strain along with two other circulating flu virus strains.
Sheridan County Public Health wasn't sure if they would be able to offer free clinics at schools this year because of state funding cuts. Melanie Kawulok, executive director at community health, explains.
A consent form signed by a parent is required for all students. Sheridan County School District No. 2 reminds families that the shot is only free to students, not family members. Due to its cost, the nasal flu mist will not be offered for free to students. The mist costs $40, and the shot normally costs $25.
Forms and more information can be found for Sheridan County schools on each school district's website.
