Flu After Swine Flu

Flu After Swine Flu

In recent years, flu season has been complicated by things like the “swine flu,” which caused vaccine shortages as well as a-typical flu patterns.

Dr. Brent Sherard, Wyoming Department of Health director, says recommendations on who should get flu shots are somewhat different this year:

Sherard says flu vaccines are currently available in many locations across the state. He adds that while flu season has not “officially” started in Wyoming, the vaccine takes several days to become effective, and so people should get their shots early. In Wyoming, the state covers the cost of the vaccine itself for all children through the Wyoming Vaccinates Important People program. However, healthcare providers may charge a small administrative fee for these vaccines.
