GILLETTE, (AP) - The Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resources Trust has awarded Gillette a $100,000 grant to help fix problems with Fishing Lake. The lake collects the water from a 27,000-acre area surrounding Gillette.
City officials hope to dredge the lake, install a sediment pond to collect future runoff, fix the wetlands at one end of the lake and to add floating islands for bird and fish habitat. All the work is expected to cost $4 million, and it's part of the city's plan to fix the local storm water infrastructure.
Including the money going to Fishing Lake, the Wildlife Trust
awarded more than $4.8 million to 28 separate projects in 13
Wyoming counties Monday.
