Bobbers, hooks, and worms were the order of the morning as twenty-five little fishermen showed up Saturday at the Rotary Pond in Ranchester for a fabulous morning of catching fish.
Hosted by the Tongue River Valley Community Center for close to 15 years, the fishing derby is a way to get kids out of the house and into the great outdoors.
Desiree Schmidt fished the derby when she was a small fry.
Blue gills and bullheads were caught by the hundreds, but Alyssa Jolovich says a few other things were caught.
A lot of credit goes to Robert Allen who has done the leg work on the derby for the past 13 years. He says it's just plain fun for the kids.
Dylan Good caught the largest fish while Austin Todd caught the most. A total of 347 fish were caught Saturday with area merchants donating a huge assortment of prizes that each of the kids got to pick from.
