Coming up this Sunday, February 23rd is an Ice Fishing Derby at Healy Reservoir to benefit the local 4-H At Work Internship Program.
Brian Bishop, organizer for the event, tells us more about the 4-H Internship program.
Bishop also said the internship program has been a success, and have had kids complete one internship only to find they did not want to pursue that as a career and ask to do another internship in a different career choice. As long as there is stipend money available, the kids can participate in an internship program.
For those participating in the fishing derby, you must have a valid fishing license as necessary and observe all Game and Fish regulations.
You must purchase raffle tickets as your entry to participate in the derby and that qualifies you for the grand prize of a Jiffy Gas Ice Auger and Ice Shelter.
You may purchase as many raffle tickets as you wish for $10 each, 3 for $25 or 10 for $75.
There will be drawings for door prizes and prizes given for the longest perch, trout and walleye caught.
Raffle tickets can be purchased through Saturday evening at the Sports Lure, Big Horn Co-op and Johnson County Extension Office in Buffalo; Quik Sak in Sheridan; and Rocky Mountain Discount Sports in both Sheridan and Gillette.
Tickets will be available at the reservoir during the derby as well.
