Saturday the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce and participating businesses will have the first Buffalo Button Strut, the first event to kick off the Holiday shopping season.
Chamber Director Angela Jarvis said the Discover Historic Buffalo group decided this year to not have the “Seeking Santa” or the reindeer promotion but to do something different to promote downtown businesses and give shoppers another reason to shop locally.
She explains how the Button Strut works.
There are 27 businesses participating this weekend, and many will have drawings and specials themselves. All buttons purchased Saturday will be entered in a drawing for a turkey “with all the fixins” and a drawing for $200 in Buffalo Bucks.
If you need somewhere for the kids to go while you shop, Cooley Images will be available to drop the kids off for some activities, crafts and other fun happenings to keep them occupied while you shop.
Proceeds from the buttons go to help offset the Chamber's costs associated with the annual Chili Feed on Christmas Parade Saturday in Crazy Woman Square, which this year will happen December 7th.
Jarvis said all of the other traditional Holiday happenings will be going on in downtown Buffalo, this is just another event that was added for everyone to participate and to have some fun.
Buffalo Buttons can be purchased at participating stores or at the Chamber of Commerce.
