For those that use Buffalo's outdoor pool, this weekend may find you at the lake or sitting in the creek somewhere to satisfy your need for a dip in the water, as the pool will be closed to the public for the First Annual Kate Holt Memorial Swim Meet.
The pool will open back up to the public on Monday.
April Poley, along with Ron Chapin, are co-directors of the meet, which will feature more than 150 swimmers from around the state and the region, some as far away as Minnesota and North Dakota competing in the two-day meet that begins this Saturday.
Poley tells us what the swimmers are competing for.
The meet will begin both Saturday and Sunday at 12:15pm and will go throughout the afternoon until each day's heats are completed.
An awards ceremony will be conducted Sunday afternoon after the meet is complete.
Poley said the meet would not have been possible without help from many different organizations, but especially the City of Buffalo and Kate Holt's Estate.
The public is invited down to watch some great swimming at the First Annual Kate Holt Memorial Swim Meet this Saturday and Sunday at Buffalo's outdoor pool.
The meet is sponsored by the Buffalo Swim Club.
