The second annual Light Up Buffalo celebration happened Saturday with shopping, music, refreshments, dancing and fireworks.
The entire day is set up to coincide with the National Small Business Day to encourage people to shop at local, small Mom-and-Pop stores and to have some fun.
Events scheduled throughout the day included carolers, carriage rides with Santa, and of course, shopping.
A fireworks show was added this year and based on comments heard during and after the show, was a big hit. State Senator Bruce Burns put on the show at Prosinski Park downtown at 5:30.
Events then continued at the Deerfield Building with music provided by “Gun Shy” who performed until the the live auction 7pm.
The auctions are fundraisers for the Buffalo Downtown Association to put on events such as the Art Chalk Festival and to put on busoiness-related seminars for local retailers.
Final numbers from the fundraiser are expected to be released Monday.
