Assisted by helicopters and an air-tanker, firefighters in southeastern Montana worked Monday afternoon on firing operations and line construction on the Horse Creek Fire, which is 30 miles south of Hysham, and ignited Sunday afternoon. The fire, which was spreading to the south and east, is 6,144 acres and 0% contained.

Firefighters focused efforts on the east/northeast corner of the blaze. According to a media release on at InciWeb.org, there are some structures potentially threatened by the fire, however no evacuations are in place at this time. Working the fire are multiple engine crews, two heavy air tankers, one helicopter, and at least three dozers. The cause of the Horse Creek Fire is under investigation.
