Fire Chief Reitz Recommends His Position Be Eliminated

In a letter addressed to Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey on February 16, Sheridan Fire-Rescue Fire Chief and Emergency Services Director Patrick Reitz recommends that his position be eliminated. Chief Reitz explains what lead to his decision.

Chief Reitz has been with the City of Sheridan since August of 2005.

Reitz also recommended in is letter to the Mayor that Division Chief of Operations Terry Lenhart be appointed interim head of the department. In a media release from the City of Sheridan, it states that Mayor Kinskey will appoint Lenhart to the position effective after Reitz's last day which will be Wednesday, February 22nd.

The release from the City also states that because of the position consolidation, Reitz is entitled to a severance package from the City consisting of six months salary and six months paid health insurance. According to City of Sheridan Human Resource Director Heather Doke, Reitz's salary is $7,236.03 a month.
