Thursday night the YMCA gym was transformed into a gourmet soup extravaganza. It was Volunteers of America's 4th annual “Filling an Empty Bowl” fundraiser to benefit Sheridan's Community Shelter.

Ethan Boone, director of community affairs for VOA says it's all about helping those less fortunate.

Folks came in and picked out a handcrafted bowl made specifically and donated for the fundraiser and then filled it with soup and ate their fill. The bowls they took home with them.

Carola Schmidt brought in her world famous Mexican Chicken Chowder which she has been making for 30 years. She says her efforts are well worth it.

Boone reminds us that there are homeless people in the Sheridan area.

The Craft Brothers entertained the crowd during dinner. There was also a silent auction with over 40 items and games for the kids. Donations to the homeless shelter are always welcome.
