Wednesday is a special day for the staff and clients of the Rehabilitation Enterprises of Northeastern Wyoming, as it's officially Spread the Word to End the Word Day.
What's the problem word though? It's that "R" word some of us may use in passing, referring to a silly mistake or an obvious error, or its the word some use maliciously to label someone with disabilities - it all does damage. Public Relations and Marketing Manager for RENEW, Ace Young, says it's a word they aim to eradicate here in Sheridan and across the state.
Jeannie Ellinger and Jeff Mock spoke to the audience at a media conference Tuesday about what it feels like to be called the "R" word, or even to hear someone say it. Ellinger explains.
After speaking to the crowd, Ellinger was the first to sign the pledge. Then, Mock shared his story too.
Young says RENEW clients will be around town gathering signatures on their pledges. If you'd like to sign your name in support online, visit www.r-word.org.
