The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has announced the 2012 Landowners of the Year, and Ryan and Teresa Fieldgrove of Buffalo were honored as the recipients for the Sheridan Region.
The Wyoming G&F each year recognizes landowners who have made great efforts towards wildlife management and habitat improvement on their private land.
According to a news release from the G&F, “these landowners, through conservation efforts, have contributed to the effective management of wildlife on public and private lands. Recipients demonstrate ethical use and stewardship of Wyoming's natural resources.”
The awards were presented at a July 9th dinner at the Silver Spur Ranch near Saratoga.
The Fieldgroves, along with their children Anna, Tommy and Elisa, run a 10,000-acre cow/calf operation on private, state and BLM lands 20 miles northeast of Buffalo.
The ranch is excellent habitat for big game such as mule deer and pronghorn; upland birds sage grouse, gray partridge and sharp-tailed grouse; and waterfowl.
