Two students from the local area are among the nine chosen by the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation to receive a scholarship.
They are siblings Jaynee and Eilish Hanson of Dayton, who are the children of Lisa and Jeb Hanson. Both are students at the University of Wyoming and will receive $500, each.
Jaynee will be a senior pursuing a degree in business administration. She has been a delegate for the National Conference for Women Student Leaders, a Girls State counselor and a member of the Global Business club and school senate.
Eilish will be a sophomore earning a double major in agricultural communications and business administration. While in college, she has participated in Collegiate FFA and has also served as a school senator. She is a past member of FFA, 4-H and the National Honors Society.
Bureau spokesperson Perry Livingston said the goal of the scholarship program is to provide educational opportunities for the children of their members. Nine college scholarships are awarded each year, according to the news release announcing the scholarships. This year alone, the company spokesperson said the federation will provide $5,500 in college scholarships.
Applications for the scholarship are available at any local county Farm Bureau office and due each year by March 1. The Wyoming Farm Bureau is the state's largest general agriculture organization. The primary goals of the organization are to protect private property rights and help members achieve an equitable return on their investment.
