Johnson County Emergency Management Coordinator Marilyn Connolly gave a report to the county commissioners on the recent snow storm and how various entities responded to and interacted with each other during the event.
Although some things were shown that need work to improve, overall she said things went well in Johnson County.
Connolly said she thought the county was pretty well prepared but she feels the need to get agreements with local fuel, food and other retailers for access to those items during an extended emergency situation.
A meeting was scheduled for the Emergency Planning Committee and the plan was to have representatives from the local stores, Powder River Energy and Rocky Mountain Power to discuss what went well and how they can improve things that didn't go well to prepare for the next event. They will discuss the possibility of having Memorandums Of Understanding (MOUs) drafted between the county and some retailers for items that may be needed during an emergency.
The commissioners asked Connolly to bring the recommendations back from the meeting for their consideration.
