The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information about a bull elk that was poached west of Buffalo.

The bull elk was shot just west of the Circle Park Campground with only the head and backstraps taken from the elk. The remainder of the elk was left to waste.
Buffalo Game Warden Jim Seeman believes the elk was killed between Monday and Wednesday.

He says, “Evidence indicates a lone individual may have been responsible for killing the elk. The person possibly parked near the locked gate leading into the campground.”
He says the road leading to the campground is frequently traveled so it is likely someone saw something and can recall the description of a vehicle parked at, or near the locked gate, or a vehicle leaving the area with the elk antlers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the game department. The Stop Poaching hotline is 1-877-WGFD-TIP (1-877-943-3847). The Sheridan regional game office is 307 672-7418. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
