More people than ever before are geyser-gazing in Yellowstone.
The park continues to be a popular destination point, but now its “officially” more popular than ever.
July had the most people ever touring the park in a one month period, nearing a million visitors. It also marks the first time in the park's history that visitation for the first seven months of the year has topped the 2 million mark.
Al Nash, Yellowstone Public Affairs Officer says it may be that economics may play a roll in these high numbers:
He adds that while visitors tend to focus a trip on a place like Yellowstone or Grand Teton:
Al believes the park is on track to have another record year overall; 2009 hosted a record number of visitors with 3.3 million people. That was breaking the previous record set in 2007 at 3.15 million people.
