Easter Egg Extravaganza

It was every child for himself at the 2nd Annual Easter Egg Extravaganza on Saturday, as kids of all ages, baskets in hand, scurried after candy-filled colored eggs scattered in Kendrick Park.

Sponsored by Vertical Church, along with Great Foundations Preschool and Sheridan Media, 20,000 eggs were used in the hunt with hopes of having 30,000 next year.  Face painting, helium balloons, egg races, and of course, pictures with the Easter bunny were all part of the activities for families to enjoy. The best part -- it all was free.

And that’s the way Pastor Michael Ames of Vertical Church wants to keep it.  He said, “We love our community and we love people and we believe in a God who is a God of love. This is a tangible way to show love to our community and to families."

Nearly 2,000 people attended the ever-growing event, and hopes are to have food vendors next year.
