Earlier this week Wyoming Department of Transportation Plows met up with snowplow crews with Yellowstone National Park, which signified that the WYDOT crews had finished its part in opening the East Entrance of Yellowstone.
Barring any unforeseen weather, Park Service crews will finish up and the East Gate to Yellowstone will open on schedule, May 3rd. Wyoming Governor Matt Mead says that federal sequestration almost delayed the opening by a couple of weeks, which would have been devastating for the local economies in the Yellowstone area.
Plowing was paid for by the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce, the City of Cody, Park County and many private donors. WYDOT is also working to open the South Entrance to the Park from Jackson by May 10th.
