Easements Discussed for Various Buffalo Projects

Easements for current and future projects in and around Buffalo were discussed at last week’s city council meeting.

City Attorney Ben Kirven told the council there are a number of revised easements and new easements on properties west of Buffalo along Highway 16 West he has completed in the last month. Only two easements are left for him to acquire before he is done with that project.

The easements are required so the city can run another water supply line from the water treatment plant into the city along the south side of Highway 16. Kirven also reported that he could find no city easement filed for the Kirven property along Cemetery Road, although the city and the property owner knew of the mutual agreement between the city and the owners of the property that was negotiated a number of years ago. Kirven told the council he would pursue a signed easement agreement between his grandmother and the city and file the necessary paperwork.

The easements will allow the city to do upgrades to water and sewer and add a walking path along Cemetery Road.
