Students Embrace the Act of Kindness

As part of a kindergarten through 12th grade initiative for School District One, which includes Tongue River and Big Horn Schools, students, staff, and employees have joined over 4000 schools nationwide in the Great Kindness Challenge, an anti-bullying campaign.

Big Horn school counselor Renee Arsenault says kindness begins with being kind to yourself.

Monday’s theme for the week-long event was “Dreaming about Kindness,” and students came to school in their pajamas. Samantha Eliason was there in her pink pj’s and snow boots. She tells us what act of kindness she did today.

The students log how many kind acts they’ve done and will be recognized at week’s end. Eighth grader Samuel Walker was well on his way and explains his progress.

He says there’s a personal benefit to giving kindness.

Today is Crazy Hair Day at the schools.
