The City of Sheridan had to remove several older trees in Kendrick Park last year for safety reasons. While removing trees from a park is never a good thing, the City is making the best out of the situation by having some of the large stumps turned into artwork. If you've been through Kendrick Park recently, you've probably noticed the double-scoop ice cream cone just off the side of the road. City Parks Director Chuck Carbert.
The man behind the artwork is David Peterson, a teacher at Sheridan Junior High School. Carbert said that there are a couple of other pieces of art that Peterson will be doing, but he wasn't ready to spill the beans just yet on exactly what those will entail. He did add that for every one tree that the City had to remove, they've replaced it by planting at least two in its place.
