The Vision Buffalo Commission (also known as the VBC) hosted a public informational and support meeting on a proposed new dog park for the City of Buffalo at City Hall Tuesday evening.

The purpose was to show the various sites the VBC has looked into, including their preferred site near the indoor archery range near the outdoor pool at Washington Park, and to gather input both positive and negative from those attending the meeting.

The first hour was well attended with 40 to 50 people stopping in to give their opinion and ask questions.

City Planning Director Lynn Barrett said the next step will be for the VBC to take this information and submit it to the city council for their consideration.
The council has already approved the VBC applying for a grant from the Johnson County Recreation Board for the dog park, and again, information from the meeting will be added to the grant application as well.

When asked if comments were mostly positive or negative on the proposed park, Barrett said they have been mixed, although some that are against the park because they feel the city should not be spending money frivolously may be mistaken in their belief.

The information from the this meeting is expected to be presented to and discussed by the Buffalo City Council as early as next week's meeting.
